Workouts To Jump Higher – Learn How To Jump Higher

Workouts To Jump Higher – Learn How To Jump Higher

Finding workouts to jump higher is easy nowadays. Though the end result from doing such workouts greatly depends on your current level of fitness the initial gains will still be significant. Any program demands time effort and dedication on your part and learning how to jump higher is no exception.

This workout is effective in making you jump higher because it is focused on 3 key principles: total body movement stretch reflex and change of direction.

  • Jumping involves the whole body moving in one fluid motion to propel itself upward in an explosive manner. It is not dependent on a muscle or two only like the calf or hamstring muscles so why limit yourself to developing only these muscles to increase your stats on how high you can jump.
  • Stretch reflex is the bodys reaction in preparing itself for the changes in movement from slowing down to speeding up. The best way to train your stretch reflex is to do plyometrics training with simple quick jumping movements with minimal ground contact.
  • Incorporating constant change of direction in your exercises is vital as this follows the pattern of the motion in jumping which is done basically from a forward motion to an upward acceleration within a few seconds.

Here are a few of the workouts designed to improve your vertical leaping ability. These exercises have many descriptions to it but all basically follow the same groundwork and however short the duration each one is it requires a great amount of intensity and effort on your part.

  1. Squat jump with shoulder press3 x 8: This exercise is started in a squat position holding a barbel bar held in front of your shoulders followed by a quick jump and pressing the bar up straight up above you. Landing squarely on the balls of the feet jump quickly back up again without pausing.
  2. Repeated broad jump 3 x 4: Position yourself with legs shoulder width apart and then jump high and as far as you can then make a quick turn around then jump again. Remember to do this exercise on the softest possible surface possible so as not to unnecessary invite injuries to yourself.
  3. Scissor jump 3 x 8: Position you body in a lunge position remember not to overextend your stance arms by your side or on your waist; any position will do so long as you are balanced and centered. Jump upward as high as possible then switch your feet while in the air land softly and repeat.
  4. Ice skaters jump 3 x 8: Stand in a crouched position jump to the right using your left foot and land on the right foot quickly jump again until the set is done.
  5. High rim jumps 3 x 8: Arms on the side knees and waist slightly bent look up at the rim or a desired spot high above you. Jump up and down as fast as you can without pausing as you try to reach the target with both hands. Focus on bouncing up quickly as you land and remember not to bend your knees too low.

The reason why workouts to jump higher have a high success rate because the exercises are done quickly and with maximum effort in a short period of time. The secret lies with the transition period between jumps is kept to a minimal thereby giving you the best possible training.
Keep this in mind at all times and youll be soaring past your opponents and dunking over them in no time. Train hard and fast! Maximize your potential and jump higher than ever before!

Workouts To Jump Higher – Hardcore Drills To Increase Vertical

Workouts To Jump Higher – Hardcore Drills To Increase Vertical Leap

To become great at anything you have to work at it. Nothing comes without a little sweat and determination. So if you wanted to become that star player on the basketball team you would no doubt need some workouts to jump higher. Workouts that will allow your body to work all the muscles necessary to help you in achieving the ultimate goal a high jump that will leave you a very valuable player.

Of course to be able to jump high would not only be neat to say that you can but also to help block shots from the opposite team to be able to get hold of that rebound or make that all impressive slam dunk. There are many ways that you can achieve good muscles with the one I would start with being jogging. Jogging is a great to work all the muscles in your body. Not only will it work to build leg muscles but it will do something equally as important by building your lung capacity. Lung capacity is key because it doesn’t matter how great the player if he can’t breathe long enough to finish a game. Jogging will also work to help your stamina so that you can stay in the game for a long time. Playing the game of basketball requires a lot of physical strength and your body needs to be able to play for as long as you want to.

Of course there are different workouts to jump higher it’s just that you need to find out which ones will work for you. If you are someone that doesn’t live near a gym then you might consider workouts that can be done in the comforts of your own home without the use of workout equipment. Squats are something that can be done in your home or at the gym. Adding weights at the gym will help you to accomplish your goal a little quicker but you can get the same results by doing squats at home with some made up weights. You can hold your hands straight out in front of you with a few books in them and that will not only work your legs but also you arm muscles as well. A medicine ball is something that many will use for that purpose but if you don’t have one then you need to use your imagination a little and add some weights of your own.

Something else that will help you to build up your leg muscles would be to do some workouts that will help you in your vertical jump as well. You can do this by finding a sturdy step or bench making sure that it is high enough so that you have a good amount of bend in your leg. Once you have placed your foot on the step or bench quickly push yourself up and back so that you are pushed up into the air. I am sure that you have seen people doing this before and now you know why they were doing it. It works on building up the leg muscles needed to help you jump higher. You might think this a silly exercise but if you can do this one hundred times daily you will see a dramatic difference in your vertical jump.

The workouts to jump higher are ones that take nothing more than a willing person to do them. You have no gym excuses now so get to it.

Womens College Basketball League – History

Posted by admin in Articles on 03 16th, 2011 | No Comments

Womens College Basketball League – History

The history of women’s college basketball started in Smith College for girls in 1893. But the first official basketball match played by women was between Stanford and Berkley in April 1896 which was played behind locked doors for women eyes’ only.

The first rules for women basketball were drawn up in 1901. These included rules that we would find peculiar today like having the basket sewn where the umpire had to retrieve the ball after each score and even playing on grass courts!

In 1975 the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics was formed and the first national basketball tournament for women was held. In the same year the first AllAmerican women basketball team was selected.

Only recently in 1996 the American Basketball League ABL was founded and WNBA a year later.

College basketball is supervised by the NCAAA. According to the NCAAA there shall be 3 divisions for basketball to filter out the players. Division I is the most prominent and popular league that is participated by colleges that sponsor seven sports for women players. This is followed by Division 2 participated by colleges that hold four sports for women players while Division 3 is played by colleges that organize five sports and have two participating teams.

The winners of 31 matches will qualify for the annual basketball championship. Another 34 teams will be chosen by a selection committee. These teams are categorized into four pools and given seedings. The championship will be played on the 3rd Thursday of March every year between teams and the losers eliminated until a grand champion emerges.

It is without question that the governing body of women’s basketball is important to ensure smooth running of championships and to preserve the standards of this game.

Womens College Basketball Is Packed With Fun And Hoopla

Posted by admin in Articles on 03 15th, 2011 | No Comments

Womens College Basketball Is Packed With Fun And Hoopla

A Coaches note first.Founded in 1981 the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association promotes women’s basketball by unifying coaches at all levels to develop a reputable identity for the sport of women’s basketball and to foster and promote the development of the game of basketball as an amateur sport for women and girls.

Women’s college basketball dates back to a game played at Smith College for girls in 1893 between freshmen against the sophomores. However the first official women’s basketball match was played between Stanford and Berkley in April 1896. This match was played behind locked doors and men were not allowed to watch women prancing on the basketball court.

The first rules governing women’s basketball were written in 1901. However these rules continued to be modified as the game evolved. The early years also saw some freak playing rules. For instance the basket was sewn and it was left to the umpire to retrieve the ball every time a basket was scored. Not only this some games were played on grass courts!

It was only in 1975 that the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women conducted the first national basketball tournament for women and in 1975 the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association selected their first AllAmerica Team. The American Basketball League ABL was founded in 1996 and the WNBA in 1997. These associations came up to stop American basketball players from moving to foreign leagues.

The college basketball however continues to be supervised by NCAAA which has set up three divisions to filter the best players. Division I is the most prominent and popular league. Those colleges that sponsor at least 7 sports for women players play it. They are required to play all but two of their games against other women basketball teams in Division 1.

Division II includes those colleges that organize at least four sports each for women. These basketball teams are required to play at least half of their games against Division I or Division II teams. Division III includes those colleges that organize at least five sports with two teams.

The winners of 31 conferences automatically qualify for NCAA’s annual women’s basketball championship. The remaining 34 are chosen by a selection committee to make it a field of 64. These teams are then organized in four pools with each pool seeded from one to 16.

The tourney starts on the third Thursday of March with the most hectic actiontaking place in the first two days when 32 teams make their exit. The next two days see another 16 teams making a bow. The competition heats up for the Final Four position and then for the ultimate winner.

Win Lots With Sports Betting System Amazing 97 Win Ratio. Review

Arrrre Youuuu Reeeeadyyyy. To Make Some Money???

I like to gamble. I like to go to the casinos and play table games. I have always looked for a strategy system that I could get a small edge over the casino and make a little bit of money.

Do you like to gamble? Do you like the excitement of the game?

Well I think this Sports Betting System has the potential to make you some money OR a lot of money if you are a risky person.

With this system you will be betting right from home on your own computer on one of the best gambling sites on the internet. If you like to win then keep reading.

I use different gambling websites for different betting. As I mentioned before I like to gamble. Now if you are into sports like: NBA National Basketball Association or NFL National Football League and the MLB Major League Baseball then you are half way there.

If you are interested in BETTING ON SPORTS then you should visit my website and find out more information about how to win 97 win ratio with SportsBettingChamp http://www.2winAtSport.com

This system I stumbled upon searching on the internet it was very compelling to me. Win 97 of your bets is very hard to believe. It took me about 2 weeks to decide to buy the system. I went back and forth trying to make sense of 97 win. I have so many other systems and they work on a short run but I made the decision and bought the Sports Betting System.

Let me tell you I am glad I got this betting system. I started to use it in August 2008 almost at the end of the MLB regular season. Up to the end of the regular season I made 5 sets of bets and I won 5 time making it a 100 win and some extra money in my pocket.

I know that at some point I will have a loss thats why it is called gambling. As long I have more wins than losses and keep my capital money growing that is fine with me.

Now it is going to be September 2008 and it is time for the NFL games to start. In another 2 month it is time for the NBA to start. I am looking forward to making more money with this SportsBetting system.

Even though the seller of this system gives you his pick for the games. I like the sports betting system because it is simple and easy to apply.

So dont be afraid to look for more information on my website. Check the resource box and click on my webpage and see for yourself.

Will 2006-07 Kansas Basketball Tickets Wind Up Being Historic?

Posted by admin in Articles on 03 12th, 2011 | No Comments

Will 2006-07 Kansas Basketball Tickets Wind Up Being Historic?

Kansas basketball tickets are as cherished as any sports tickets in the world and every season brings new hope to the entire state. The Jayhawks are one of those truly historic programs and the coming season is one sprinkled with hopes that are as high as any in recent seasons. It’s hard to believe that a program that’s as consistently good as Kansas hasn’t won a national title since 1988 and below will be a look at whether or not that “drought” is about to end.

Key Returnees

It’d be easier to talk about who isn’t returning for Kansas nobody. The Jayhawks get all five starters back and the scary thing is that they’re still young. Kansas features three sophomores and two juniors in their starting five and that includes stud forward Brandon Rush a prospect who could easily have gone on to the NBA after last season but is back to build on his early success in Lawrence. G Mario Chalmers is also a feared slasher and Kansas’ bigs are also a force in the paint.

Additions

Even though Kansas returns every starter that doesn’t mean that Kansas basketball tickets won’t allow fans to see some new topnotch talent. Kansas landed two top15 recruits in F Darrell Arthur and PG Sherron Collins and each is expected to jump immediately into the rotation. Arthur in particular may be called on early as starting C Sasha Kaun injured his knee just before the season and his immediate availability is in doubt. Collins will also see plenty of time as Coach Bill Self loves to bring waves of pressure and highintensity defense at opponents and Collins is more than quick and athletic enough to be a problem for opposing guards.

Challenges

The challenges appear to be few in number for Kansas as this team is loaded and ready for their schedule. Perhaps the biggest challenge Kansas will face is in regards to their mentality. The Jayhawks started last season terribly and then ripped off 15 wins in their final 16 games to roll into the NCAA Tournament with a lot of momentum. Many “experts” picked Kansas to win it all.

However those predictions proved wrong immediately as Kansas was stunned in the first round by Bradley. The issue? Kansas was no longer an underdog or a surprise. They had a target on their back for the first time and that target is firmly in place this season before it even starts as the Jayhawks are the overwhelming favorite in the Big 12.

Overall if Self can keep his team focused and loose Kansas basketball tickets could be available well into March and ultimately for the Final Four.

Why The Top Basketball Camps Demand 87

Why The Top Basketball Camps Demand 87

Why the top basketball camps demand 87

Summers are critical for a basketball player’s development and how you spend that time and how hard you work can spell the difference between being an average player and being a champion. But is it realistic that you can give 100 effort all the time?

More importantly SHOULD you?

An old mentor of ours at Point Guard College legendary basketball thinker Dick Devenzio wrote a book called “Think Like a Champion. In one of the chapters titled “87″ he makes a very interesting point about giving 100:

“It’s all hype. It’s all garbage. No one gives everything. I figure there’s a certain complacency in the guy who calls himself a 100 percenter. I imagine he has quit thinking and quit actively searching for ways to do more because he apparently thinks he already does everything. Better to have the guy who knows he doesn’t give everything and who spends his time thinking up ways to do more. “What could I add here? What could I add there? Is there some way to do this just a little bit better?”

Dick’s point is an interesting one and it should make you think about your approach to training and what kind of effort you’re putting in.

These and lessons like these are the kind of things that help players add perspective to their preparation and become champions. So while there are all kinds of things people can learn from attending a basketball camp it’s important that you focus on the types of training that will show you how to think the game as well as play it.

Have fun and work hard this summer!

About the writer:  In 2001 after a 7year friendship with the late PGC founder Dick DeVenzio Mano created his own program for point guards in Canada the Point Guard Academy in tribute to Dick. Over a 5year span the program attracted athletes from across North America and around the world. Mano is the President of Point Guard College and will direct Essentials courses on the PGC ’09 Tour.

Why The Best Basketball Camps Make You Play Handcuffed

Posted by admin in Articles on 03 10th, 2011 | No Comments

Why The Best Basketball Camps Make You Play Handcuffed

Why the Best Basketball Camps Make You Play Handcuffed

They say players compete in the winter but they are made in the summer.

This may be true but HOW they are made is a topic of much debate. What is the right mix of gym time weight time or game time? What are the best ways to spend that time: by yourself? In a pickup game? Attending the best basketball camps?

With all the work players put in to learning how to play the game they tend to forget that they can get an enormous edge over their competition by learning how to THINK the game as well.

One of the best basketball camps to address this is Point Guard College dont let the name fool you theyre not just for point guards. Aside from intense on court training they spend a large amount of time working on the psychological aspects of the game through video analysis classroom training and leadership development as well. The goal is to develop complete players thinkers and leaders in the community who are equally valuable off the court as they are on. And their approach is gaining ground.

Much of Point Guard Colleges philosophy comes from the man who started it all legendary basketball thinker Dick Devenzio who not only started one of the best basketball camps he wrote one of the elite basketball books: Think Like a Champion. When John Wooden says your camp and your book are the real deal people pay attention.

To get an idea of the kind of approach taken by the Point Guard College take a look at one of the chapters in Dicks book on the concept of Playing Handcuffed which starts like this:

“Even if you are highly skilled in your sport and you are the
best performer on your team there will undoubtedly be times
when your coach requires you to do things that arent conducive
to you becoming the hero or even getting a chance to use your
abilities at all. It would make sense for you to think about this
now in advance so when your time comes you dont have to
quit or rant and rave or act like your coach is a nut or the world
has come to an end. In nearly every sport among the worlds
very best athletes this handcuffing has occurred. Nearly every
athlete who has achieved high levels of proficiency has at some
time felt handcuffed.

I couldve won the game but the coach wouldnt let me.
When this happens to you be patient. Be understanding.
Be quiet. You arent always going to agree with your coach. And
your ability isnt always going to be used in the way your parents
or you would use it. Sometimes maybe you will be right. Your
way would have been better. Other times though you may be
reluctant to admit it your coach may have done what was best
for the team.

Its not really important who is right and wrong. In sports
many decisions have no clear cut right or wrong. Should you
play zone or mantoman? Should the coach pinch hit for the
pitcher? Should we go for the 4thand2 or punt the ball? Even the
individual golfer has those same kinds of decisions. Play it safe or
try to hit the ball over the water? If the ball goes over the water
and you score an eagle youre a god. If the ball goes in the water
and you lose the tournament by one stroke youre an idiot.
But we all know that postgame commentary is a lot easier
than duringthegame decisions. When you find yourself in a
situation where you arent being permitted to use your skills to
the fullest challenge yourself to see how well you can perform
handcuffed instead of going into a funk over those handcuffs. It
happens to the best and its likely to happen to you. Remember
coaches handcuffs are as much a part of the obstacles to
overcome as are referees calls bad weather injuries and any
other conditions that athletes have to learn to take in stride.
Handcuffed? Congratulations. You have joined some very
elite ranks. Make the best of it.
“

There are all kinds of things people can learn from attending a basketball camp but these days the elite basketball camps out there may be the ones that tell you how to think the game and not just play it.

Lessons like Dick’s are critical to taking your mental game to the next level.
